Hey, reader. How are you doing? Happy new moon. Today there was an eclipse, and friends who follow astrological events say it’s intense. I have advice for the eclipse.
Some people say if you can’t see it from where you are, it doesn’t affect you. But eclipse energy is a big deal, even if the visible part is elsewhere.
Eclipses are milestones. They are about change and shedding what’s no longer needed. Some cultures find them a time of vulnerability, even potential for danger.
So I think of eclipses as a time for reflection, safety, and intentionality. Since big changes are possible, I get clear on what kinds of change I’m ready for.
Also I want to protect my health and Ming’s health. I want to stay grounded. It might not be a good time for daring risks.
Constantly I’m planting seeds. So what’s ready to harvest? What’s ready to prune or pull, that doesn’t belong anymore?
lover’s advice for the eclipse
This morning I told Ming how it’s a new moon, and the eclipse might affect each of us differently. Ming was feeling energetic almost to the point of hypomania. I was feeling contemplative, chill, and slow.
“We should give each other extra grace today,” I said.
Always every day, I want to be patient and respectful with Ming. But extra on an eclipse day, I want to give Ming tons of room to be who they are, on their own terms, and take a lot of room for myself to be who I am also.
I asked for alone time, and it felt good to focus on myself for a while in the sunshine, feeling the breeze.
advice for the eclipse for anyone
Here are some ideas for anyone.
- take it easy / lower stress
- extra physical rest
- be good to yourself
- eat foods your body responds well to
- think about what you really want and need
- journal
- consider prayer, making art, pulling tarot cards
- remember previous eclipses and what you did those days
- do activities that help you feel stable
What helps me feel stable is protein, gratitude journaling and desire journaling with Ming, sunning, checking in with good friends, and touch with people I trust. Your stability may vary.
holiday
An eclipse is like a holiday, but without a schedule that I can comprehend. I like an eclipse as a chance to pause and feel where I am, savor the place and season, and see myself from a bird’s eye view. It’s a special day.
Whatever your take on astrology, people have been noticing eclipses and having feelings about them for a long time. There are cave paintings for example. I want to let myself respond too.
