Hello, reader! How are you? This prayer for leaving the land is remarkable because we always pray as we’re about to arrive to the land. We ask for help treating others with respect, and help with boundaries. We ask for help giving only what we want to give, and taking only what we want to take.
Partly it’s about the spirits who live at the land and want so much from the living. We ask for protection from the spirits, that they can admire us but leave us alone.
This morning I realized– there are unique dangers to coming here, but the world at large is dangerous also. I sometimes take the world’s dangers for granted.
A prayer for leaving the land reminds me of a welcome mat turned the other way than usual, so the person who lives in the house is welcome to the world, not the visitor being welcome to the house. It thrills me to have a different direction.

Dear Mother God,
Thank you for our resources, that we are able to travel and take risks.
Please bless us and all we learned at the land. Please help us remember what we need to carry with us into the world, that we experienced and felt here. We thank you for liberation, rituals, all the pleasure, and how we transformed.
Please bless our processing of all we learned, and please bless our integration. Please bless our re-joining of the mundane world.
When we see mainstream culture’s failures, please bless us to hold onto our vision for a better world. Please help us maintain the mentality of helping others in respectful, consensual ways. We are not just individuals. We are in community.
Please protect us from capitalism and how it asks us to give up our time and energy in order to make money. We’re here on earth for so much more than to make money and pay up. Please bless us to resist the death culture of capitalism and how it would destroy our souls if we let it. Thank you for our big hearts and our big imaginations, that we can see other ways of being.
Please protect us from contaminated water, air, and foods, as capitalism prioritizes profit while organisms are harmed. Please protect us from car culture and all the ways car-centered streets are dangerous for everyone.
