why we pee

sweetheart

Hello, reader. How are you doing these days? Thinking about why we pee…

dream

I dreamed last night of a former community member; he lives at an assisted living facility these days. He couldn’t talk anymore, but he was happy to see me and Ming. He passed through the dream quietly excited. Definitely he was a holy figure, smiling without language. He reminded me of Jesus.

Otherwise there was stressful conflict about community spaces in this dream. Where we were allowed to be during an event– which people were allowed in what spaces. It had to do with power, and communication wasn’t good.

You know how sometimes people don’t bring something up, because it’s easier to glide on assumptions? But then in the long run, it actually isn’t easier because it creates tensions and seething angers which destroy relationships. One hurt leads to another, when the whole thing could have been prevented by brief conversation.

What happened in community five years ago, ten years ago, loops back in our current community in a new form. Like dreams whip the past up and churn it out in a new form, we can’t get away from problems in community. We can try switching communities, but probably all the problems will be waiting for us in the new community. Ah shucks.

moan

Mostly I woke up and did life in many familiar ways. I conversed with a charming young person, found housing for me and Ming for an upcoming big deal trip, woke up Ming and helped them take a pill and drink tea. Comforting Ming into consciousness with my body.

A few hours into my day, suddenly I moaned with recognition.

“What happened?” Ming asked from the other room, recognizing my moan as important.

“I dreamed of _______ last night,” I said. I explained how _______ floated through my stressful community dream, smiling.

why we pee

Maybe why we pee is because we were invented by water to move water around. We pee everywhere we go. Also we irrigate our fields and break up the dams of beavers. We dig wells and ditches. We make swales, water bottles, canteens, ollas.

Someone else thought of that. But an idea I had myself is that we pee because it forces us to move around, which makes us move our lymph.

My friend is disabled and was sad, because she mostly had to stay in bed, and getting up to pee was so hard for her.

“Why do we have to pee?” she asked.

I sympathized and explained how I think peeing is our body’s way of making sure we get up and walk around at least every few hours. So our lymph has a chance to flow.

stuck

Stuck lymph is a bad scene. I have long term, painful problems with my lymphatic system. I think there are many reasons for that (superfund site near my childhood home, cortisol poisoning, EDS, most of my body’s tubes being strangely too small).

But one reason is that I was told “sit still” as a child and obeyed. I wish I had said, “Fuck you, adult,” and wiggled away.

Being so still is part of what fucked up my lymph, I do believe.  These days I’m suffering a lot of lymph pain and flow issues, but it didn’t have to be that way.

advice items

Please wiggle / stim.

Please dance.

If it’s hard to get up to pee, please ask me for help if I’m around.

Please resist people who tell you not to move.

Don’t make toxic waste.

Don’t put toxic waste in a superfund site where it’s going to hurt many beings.
