more pleasure

Hello, reader.  How are you doing?  I’m good, but I need more pleasure in my life.  Spirit told me 9 of cups.  I better hop to it.

Do you need more pleasure in your life?  There are so many kinds.  I like sensory.

  • touch
  • delicious foods
  • tasty drinks
  • beautiful smells like flowers, oranges, earth
  • good sights to look at
  • comfortable clothes, soft blanket
  • luxurious rest
  • wonderful sounds like rain hitting a skylight or red-winged blackbirds singing

Then there can be more mental pleasures, like learning, understanding, and connecting dots.  And spiritual pleasures like feeling part of God, or close to my ancestors–close to humanity.

There’s the pleasure of service and meaningful work.  Yes, those are special.

goal

What am I looking for?  If it’s a dopamine hit or serotonin hit, there are many ways to get that.  I’d rather manipulate my reward pathways in a way that doesn’t have disastrous consequences.

Not to be overly dramatic, but sometimes I see instagram, weed, and other drugs being used in a way that feels disastrous.  Yes, God gave us plants to enjoy.  The gram can keep us connected to friends and culture, and teach us new ways to do our eye shadow and heal our trauma.

However, weed is a huge-ass industry, and so is instagram.  Yikes!  I feel skeptical of motivations and practices of Big Weed as well as the mega corp that runs insta, as well I should.

All different ways to get pleasure in this world.  Maybe homegrown weed feels different.  And many people are too disabled or just disinclined to grow their own–who am I, to judge harshly.  However, I feel better about smelling a flower and listening to wind than engaging in corporate culture.

Crap–how do I say that in a nicer way?  I feel sanctimonious right there.  Of course I buy roses and the special chips I like from Trader Joe’s too.  Pick your poison.

palatable

I made this poetry meme that matters to me.  It’s about taking a break from obsessing over others’ needs.  That’s how I’ve spent my life–over giving.

palatable

I’m learning how to let the other person be uncomfortable for a minute.  I’m cultivating that.

Please keep me in your prayers as I learn how to center myself and keep my soul inside my body.  It’s important for my health.

Good at listening to the noise until it makes sense.
