Hey, so you know I’m a trikeslut, right?  That has to do with the intersection of disability and sexuality.  I’m also a dumpster diving data slut.  I confessed to Ming this morning–one of my favorite things to do I never told anyone before.  And I’m about to tell you!

Ok, so, are you ready?  Wiki commons may be the website I visit most often!  Now that I’m a blogger who tries to do a little bit of caring about getting readers, I work on SEO and include images with everything.  I need images all the time.

This is the part I never told anyone.  I like to look for books that are old and public domain, and then I look at the end papers, and I screenshot then crop the end papers, which are often really beautiful, and use them for my own nefarious purposes.  Like I make poetry memes and use the end papers as background.

Wow, now you know.  Secret life of Laura-Marie.  Do you see how that feels dumpster diver-y?  It’s like I hopped into the dumpster behind the library, and I’m going through crayoned-on library discards to grab the gorgeous end papers to make stuff out of.  But it’s digital, so it’s online, so it’s data, and I’m a data slut.

Furthermore, wiki commons being a commons, it makes me think of Silvia Federici, who is a hero of mine, or was–I met her at an anarchist book fair in Oakland ten years ago.  I like her ideas, so much, but then I learned she’s a TERF, so yuck.

But that talk she gave, she talked about the commons.  I got hearts in my eyes like that heart-eyes emoji, fantasizing about a commons.  Then that song about the Diggers started playing in my head.  “It will be a common treasury for all.”

The sin of property we do disdain, indeed.  Wiki commons is like that to me, but I wish there was a better way to search for public domain photos.  I haven’t figured it out yet.

But yesterday was the day I finally gave back to wiki commons by uploading a photo and making the license public domain.  I almost cried.  It was a momentous moment!

Oh yeah, I also like to make silly memes in the middle of the night that probably no one finds funny but me.

I giggle and giggle.

You need the right amount of cultural knowledge to know who Drake is.  Then you probably need to be charmed by pink haired kids in sunglasses, and see how she is spoofing Drake, from Drake memes.  Then you need to know what gratuitous means, but probably you could look that up.  Loving strawberries would help too.
